We arrived in Switzerland early morning, and took another train (or two) and a cable car to our destination town, Mürren- altitude is 5,374ft! We probably actually arrived late afternoon. It was breathtaking, Mürren was by-far the prettiest place in Europe. The town was so cute, everyone living there was culturally proud; their houses were covered with the many antlers they collected, Swiss flags, or the number of years their family house had been there. Trust me, it's crazy how old they were...some were there before the World Wars! Everyone was so friendly and nice. It was how I would imagine heaven to be.
We dropped our things off at the hotel and grabbed late lunch. Sooooo good! I had beef tongue with mashed potatoes and Jared had really yummy lamb and pasta. They specialize in everything potatoes, and their butter lettuce was the best I've ever had- it was soft but crunchy...WHAT?!? Afterwards, we just relaxed and went exploring and grocery shopping to prepare for tomorrow's hike...on the ALPS! We eventually got dinner, but I was still full so I just got potato soup and wine, which was also delicious! It was super creamy and cheesy... I was good for the night. We actually also got dessert at the hotel including a Neapolitan, hot chocolate, and affogato. We rested up to prepare us.
I've been looking forward to this hike ever since the beginning of this trip, and I'm sure 9-10 miles of walking everyday pretty much prepped us up! We started in the morning and it was BEAUTIFUL the whole hike, the only thing was it was pretty tough because of the altitude and it was super steep -there was one part where my knees were about twoish feet from my face...WHOA! It was even scarier going down cause the rocks and stones moved. And it was super windy! On our way down, Jeren had to chase her hat and I felt like I was blowing away, I still dunno how she kept her feet grounded. So, we ended at an additional 7,568 ft up from Mürren in the Swiss Alps! I will return to climb the peaks of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau...I'll be back!!! <3
We came back late afternoonish and got a victory meal, same place as the day before. After the hike, sometime in the afternoon, we went to Pitz Gloria (Where the shot James Bond: Her Majesty's Secret Service). This was on top of Schilthorn's peak. It was hilarious because Jared's mom was buying the gondola tickets to the peak, and the ticket lady was frantically screaming at us saying, "Hurry, NO.TIME.FOR.BERG!" If I recall correctly, she was either waving her arms very drastically or making a big "X" with her arms. Otherwise, it was fun! We hung out the top, did a cute bobsled music video, and saw the panaormic views of all the peaks of Mürren. Otherwise, we rested up and packed for the next day. I hiked the Alps that day <3<3<3
We woke up at 5AM today, and it was raining. We had to walk to the station too. Anyways, we rode trains all day. We stopped by Milan and someone attempt to steal my Fendi watch...RIGHT OFF MY WRIST! I punched him...syke. Someone did try to steal my watch so I was flustered, until a guy saw me and pointed to it on the ground. Milan was my least favorite. We arrived in Rome at around the afternoon, and shortly got dinner. Today was just a "get-there-kind-of-day".
