This whole day was another train ride, very long train ride. We stopped by Florence at one point, and had lunch and walked around. I wish we could have stayed sooner, but I felt it was the one of the cleaner Italian cities we have gone to that we visited. It seemed very calm and peaceful, and there was less hustle and bustle.
We got back on a train, and as soon as we were approaching the station, the train tracks were only surrounded by water...Wow! If you've seen Spirited Away, it looked exactly like that-just the train on the ocean. We got to the station, and right when you stepped outside the station into the city if Venice, it was so busy with boats, rather than cars. It was so cooool! No roads existed for driving, and their public transport was how city buses work in the US but on water! And they had taxi boats too...Wowowow. We arrived at our hotel and rested a little and then went out to explore. Our hotel was very close to the San Marco Square. My heart was floating, because it also put me in Aria (an anime based on Venice). I knew beautiful ghost stories from the show, so I wasn't really scared. Jared said Venice gave him the creeps, it did to me too but it was more mysterious rather than creepy.
We got dinner and walked around the pier, got gelato, and did a little bit of shopping. We got a gondola hat for Francois :3 And we enjoyed a little bit more of the night life before heading back to get rest for the next day in Venice. But that was pretty much our day. <3
A day in Venice <3 After getting breakfast, we rode a gondola that took us around and through San Marco Square, soooo mysterioussss. Most of the buildings we passed were submerged, but people still lived in them, just on top of the water. There was even a prison! We saw part of it under water, but the rest of it became a museum. Afterwards, we went shopping in San Marco Square, and I bought purses that were Real Italian Leather!! @.@ We eventually took a water bus to Rialto Bridge. It was very busy, because there were shops on that bridge... I didn't know that! Lots of the shops in Venice sold masks, very pretty and lavishing ones. They have a history to the city, but you'll have to do research on your own ;) We went to a really nice restaurant for lunch where I had fresh, grilled mixed seafood in a bag...their specialty! For dessert, we went to a gelato shop...I had the best gelato EVER in MY WHOLE LIFE , it was tiramisu flavored, very creamy, and not too sweet, it was perfect! We had to leave Venice really early in the evening to catch another night train, and that was the whole day, Just relaxing and exploring in mysterious Venice.
